Single with Justin Bieber a Worldwide Powerhouse, Collecting 255 Million Global Streams
Multi-Nominees Performing “Speechless” at the CMA Awards Nov. 13
GRAMMY-winning duo Dan + Shay are celebrating Halloween down under this year alongside tour mate and pop superstar Shawn Mendes – and it looks like the surprises in store aren’t so spooky. Their sold-out Australian takeover, which began on Oct. 23 in Perth and will continue through Nov. 3 in Sydney, has spread to the airwaves. Their single “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber is officially the country’s most-played all-genre radio song of the week.
With more than 255 million global streams of the “irrepressible love song” (Billboard), with 50 million in China alone, “10,000 Hours” is making waves worldwide. It continues to add to its growing list of international playlists across all platforms after landing on 39 out of 40 Spotify New Music Friday and all 115 of Apple’s New Music Daily lists. The single quickly reached No. 5 on Spotify’s Top 200 Global chart, as well as No. 3 on Apple Music’s Top 100: Global chart and No. 1 all-genre on the U.S. iTunes Song chart.
As in Australia, “10,000 Hours” is seeing widespread radio impact. In the United States the single is Top 20 at U.S. Pop and Country Airplay, Top 15 at Hot AC. It is Top 20 on the UK Official Singles Top 100 chart and has been added to BBC Radio 2 A-List Rotation in addition to its A-List playlisting on Heart Radio and C-List on BBC Radio 1. The “stunning”(E! News) song climbed to No. 1 on China’s Netease and No. 2 on China’s QQ Music, making it one of the biggest releases in the country so far this year. It has also been added on France’s NJR and Australia’s Nova and Hit Regional Network, KISS Sydney and Melbourne and more.
The record-breaking collaboration marks the biggest first-week streaming total in country music history. Dan + Shay became the first country duo or group ever to debut in Billboard Hot 100’s Top 5, and the song simultaneously shot to No. 1 on both the Hot Country Songs charts and Digital Songs Sales ranking. Its sales numbers climb steadily, already earning its Gold certification in Canada.
Fans in the U.S. can catch the duo on their recently announced Dan + Shay The (Arena) Tour spreading across the states throughout 2020, including New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden, which sold out in less than 90 minutes. Presented by AEG Presents, the 35+ date tour follows their sold-out Dan + Shay The Tour earlier this year.
Dan + Shay are up for Duo of the Year, Album of the Year and Single of the Year for their 3x Platinum, four-week No. 1 hit “Speechless” at this year’s CMA Awards, making them one of the most-nominated artists. They are set to perform the romantic track live at the ceremony on Nov. 13. Dan Smyers received an additional nomination for Song of the Year as a co-writer on the 4x Platinum, multi-week No. 1 “Tequila” for the second year in a row. The duo are also the most-nominated country artists at this year’s American Music Awards with three nods to their name.
In the seven years since they formed, Dan + Shay have amassed nearly four billion streams globally, accumulated 17 total RIAA Platinum and Gold certifications and achieved six No. 1 singles at country radio. They took home their first-ever GRAMMY earlier this year and followed the honor by becoming the most-awarded artist at the ACM Awards before going on to earn CMT Music, Billboard Music and Teen Choice Awards, effectively sweeping the country categories.
