With a writing credit on every track, Dark Horse arrived Top 3 and Top 5 on Billboard’s Country Albums Sales and Country Albums charts respectively, making it this year’s highest charting debut from a solo male so far. Dawson recently joined an all-star musical lineup and the Nashville Ballet for their 2018 Ballet Ball paying tribute to music icon Johnny Cash. The Nor-Cal native, who grew up not too far from Folsom Prison, performed a beautiful rendition of Cash’s “God Will Cut You Down” alongside famed Native American guitarist Bill Miller and an interpretive dance by the ballet. The evening was hosted by Cash’s son, John Carter Cash and wife Ana Cristina Cash, and also featured Sheryl Crow, Ronnie Dunn and Jamey Johnson.
