Ashley Monroe On Tour In Support Of Critically-Acclaimed Album Like A Rose

  • Posted on Jul 15th by Team WMN  in Ashley Monroe,

Country singer-songwriter Ashley Monroe hit the road last week in support of her critically-acclaimed album Like A Rose, which was co-produced by Vince Gill and Justin Niebank. As the only artist to have two albums featured in Rolling Stone’s “Best Albums of 2013: Mid-Year Report” with both Like A Rose and Pistol Annie’s Annie Up, Monroe’s solo country album is one of the most highly praised releases of 2013. Monroe exclaims, “Wow!!! Being in Rolling Stone’s “Best Albums” list one time exceeds my wildest dreams. To have two albums on the list is beyond humbling. I couldn’t feel more honored.”

    • Rolling Stone named Monroe “One of Nashville’s newest hitmakers,” “Best Albums of 2013: Mid-Year Report,” (4/5 stars)

    • People Magazine named Like A Rose “One of the 10 Best (so far)”

    • The Washington Post called Like A Rose “the first great album of the year”

    • USA Today gave Like A Rose 4/4 stars

    • Associated Press raved, “Like A Rose has the audacious sound of a newcomer whose talent is already in full bloom”

    • NPR’s Country Music’s Year of The Woman feature, called Monroe “an important voice in the new wave of female empowerment in Nashville”

Monroe began her tour with multi-platinum band Train on the “Mermaids of Alcatraz” tour. During the 25-date run, Monroe will join Pat Monahan to sing their duet of the band’s current hit single “Bruises,” followed by a performance of her own material. Later this fall, Monroe will join Grammy-nominated Atlantic artist Hunter Hayes on the “Let’s Be Crazy” tour, running through the end of the year. She recently performed with Hayes at a sold-out New York City Webster Hall show, followed by a solo performance for MTV’s Online Music Awards. Last month Monroe was also featured singing alongside Willie Nelson for CMT Crossroads: Willie Nelson & Friends from Third Man Records.

Like A Rose features nine songs all co-written by Monroe, having worked with many of Nashville’s A-list songwriters, including legendary Hall of Famer Guy Clark, Liz Rose, Shane McAnally, Lori McKenna and her co-producer Vince Gill. Monroe, only 26 years old, has been writing and recording music for more than half of her life, attracting kudos along the way from some of music’s finest contemporaries such as Dolly Parton and Jack White. At times her songs are dead serious, at others utterly hilarious, but always Monroe is an original with a compelling story to share. She explains, "This album is 100% me. If you want to get to know me, just listen to all of the songs on Like A Rose and you'll know all of the sides of me."
