The Male Vocalist of the Year boasts two No. 1 hits, three charted albums, multiple award show wins, album sales, and an induction into the Grand Ole Opry
Nashville, TN – (December 17th, 2010) – With back-to-back No. 1 hits, an induction into the Grand Ole Opry, three charting albums and claiming an award at every major Country award show this year, 2010 was Blake Shelton’s year. Named by the New York Times as one of the “most versatile of contemporary country singers,” Shelton is no doubt soaring high. His year of accolades also include selling over half-a-million records and over a million singles-to-date.
Shelton received his first ACA, ACM, CMA and CMT award show wins, specifically honored with the coveted title of CMA’s “Male Vocalist of the Year.” Shelton’s infectious hit “Hillbilly Bone” has won an award at every major Country award show this year - the ACA’s for “Music Video of the Year” and “Music Video: Male,” the ACM Award for “Vocal Event of the Year,” CMA Award for “Musical Event of the Year” and CMT Award for “Collaborative Video of the Year.” He is currently nominated for his first GRAMMY award for “Best Country Collaboration with Vocals” for his smash-hit single “Hillbilly Bone.”
This year, Shelton has sold over half-a-million albums and over one million singles off Hillbilly Bone, All About Tonight and LOADED: The Best of Blake Shelton. Hillbilly Bone debuted at No. 2 on the Top Country Albums Chart and No. 3 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. The title track was certified gold by the R.I.A.A. All About Tonight debuted at No. 1 on the SoundScan Top Country Albums chart and No. 6 on Billboard's Top 200 chart, making it Shelton’s highest charting record-to-date. LOADED: The Best of Blake Shelton is in stores now and debuted in the Top 10 on the Country Charts adding him into the elite group of artists who have charted three records in one year – among those are Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney and Alan Jackson.
Shelton will appear on the cover of Country Weekly’s year-end issue in celebration of his year of career success. Other highlights from this year include Shelton co-hosting the Today Show with Hoda Kotb, visiting the set of E!’s Chelsea Lately twice and performing on Good Morning America and twice on both The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel Live!. In addition, he performed on the ACA, ACM and CMA award shows. Shelton also premiered his first television concert special on GAC titled, “Blake Shelton Live: It’s All About Tonight” and kicked-off his first ever headlining tour hitting major cities such as Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco.
Shelton has seven No. 1 hits, with his multi-week hit single, “All About Tonight,” “Hillbilly Bone,” back-to-back multi-week No. 1 singles “She Wouldn’t Be Gone” and “Home,” his five-week No. 1 debut single, “Austin” and two additional multi-week No. 1 hits with “The Baby” and “Some Beach.” Shelton has not had a single peak outside the Top Ten since 2007.
