Nashville, TN – (November 19th, 2010) – After recently being named CMT’s “Next Big Thing,” Atlantic Recording artist Brett Eldredge is living up to the prestigious title making career highlights with his Opry debut, performing at Maria Shriver’s “March on Alzheimer’s” in Los Angeles, CA and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s “For the Love of George” charity event in Nashville, TN and having his emotionally powerful single “Raymond” continues to climb the Country charts, just seven weeks since his debut to country radio.
Eldredge continues to generate a buzz with his rising single with noteworthy praises from Country radio, fans, industry reps and artists such as Keith Urban.
“I just heard that Brett Eldredge song yesterday, ‘Raymond,’ and I just wept immediately,” said Country music star Keith Urban. “The power of music to do that, that’s why it matters to us.”
@Blake Shelton: “Hands down the coolest song I've heard in a long time ‘Raymond’ by @bretteldredge!!! You have to check that sh-t out!!!”
“These are the kind of songs that make country music unique,” said KRTY/San Jose’s Nate Deaton. “We play songs about listeners’ lives, and there is not a listener out there that this song will not touch.”
“In the last 10 years only one other song almost brought me to tears until I heard the song ‘Raymond,’” said KAJA/San Antonio’s Travis Moon. “It is touching, positive and brings and incredibly powerful message I want my listeners to hear and share with others. Brett Eldredge just reserved a future power spot in country radio’s gold category.”
“This is one that all of us were just really attracted to the lyrics on. It really hooked us,” said WUBE/Cincinnati’s Grover. “We listened to it one week and couldn't get it out of our minds. We thought ‘why are we waiting?’ We will see what happens but I think it works well in Cincinnati.”
Written by Eldredge and Brad Crisler, “Raymond” follows the story of a relationship between a young man and an elderly patient at a nursing home who has Alzheimer’s Disease and affectionately mistakes him for her late son, Raymond. The story behind the song is equally emotional for Eldredge who penned the song after learning that his grandmother’s dementia had caused her to fail to recognize some of their closest family members. Eldredge recently performed “Raymond” at his Opry debut earlier this month with his grandmother in attendance.
“’Raymond’ is the first song I wrote that I immediately felt the magic from and saw how a story can come alive from that,” Eldredge said. “When I had my Opry debut, not only was I introduced by one of my longtime heroes, Bill Anderson, but I also able to share that moment with my family, my grandmother and grandfather who came to see me perform. They’ve always been incredibly supportive and are every bit a part of making all this a dream come true for me.”
Eldredge’s song “It Ain’t Gotta Be Love” is featured in the new Gwyneth Paltrow movie “Country Strong.” He also penned the song “Thirsty” recorded by Hank Williams Jr. and is featured on the “Country Strong” soundtrack.
