On Tour NOW with Chase Rice; Grand Ole Opry Performance March 20

With early streaming success and critics already noting him as one to watch, Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville’s Cale Dodds is heading into the next chapter of his career saying one thing: “I Like Where This Is Going.” Dodds penned his brand new single of the same name (listen HERE) alongside producer busbee and award-winning songwriter Nicolle Galyon. He also revealed a visualizer video for the optimistic, romance-tinted track that features some of the highlights of his young career (watch HERE).

“‘I Like Where This Is Going’ is about anticipation,” Dodds said. “It’s the feeling of suspense, like the last song at prom before the lights come up or the moment before dropping a girl off after a first date, not knowing what’s going to happen next. There’s a beauty in the uncertainty of what’s going to happen, while having faith that it’s going to unfold in the right way. Nicole and busbee helped me guide the ship on this song and really helped bring my vision to life in the writer’s room. If four out of five first dates are awkward… this is the one you’ve been waiting on.”

The up-and-coming singer / songwriter, named by Pandora and Sounds Like Nashville an artist to watch in 2019, is taking “I Like Where This Is Going” and his collection of viral favorites out on the road this spring alongside Chase Rice. Dodds joined his first show on Rice’s Eyes on You Tour yesterday in Seattle, with an encore performance to follow tonight (full dates below). He will return to Nashville to take the stage at the Grand Ole Opry stage next Wednesday, March 20.

Between studio sessions and tour dates, Dodds is tackling a new kind of challenge this spring: the St. Jude Rock ‘N’ Roll marathon. A continual supporter of the hospital and an advocate for healthy living, Dodds will run on April 27 alongside his dad. He is well on his way to meeting his $10,000 fundraising goal (see HERE).

The Columbus, GA native has offered fans several tastes of his rock and pop country blend over the past few years in the form of digital singles. He scored his first viral hits with songs like “Lying,” “All Over” and “People Watching” before and after being signed to his first major label deal. In late 2018 he released “What We Gonna Do About It,” an upbeat party-starter that he co-wrote with producer Corey Crowder and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard, followed by his song “Where I Get It From” to close out the year. Touted by Rolling Stone for his “smooth pop-country crooning over arena ready arrangements distinguished by clever lyricism,” Dodds faces the future with a “powerful stage presence, good looks and self-deprecating sense of humor…  already proving to have that ‘it’ factor necessary to take this thing to the moon” (Whiskey Riff).
