GRAMMY-nominated country duo Dan + Shay (Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney) are “Speechless” today as the second single from their self-titled album rises to No. 1 at country radio, simultaneously notching its third week atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Dan + Shay also snag the second spot on the Hot Country chart this week with their multi-Platinum, award-winning single “Tequila.” Together the songs make up two of the top five most-streamed country songs released in 2018, sitting at No. 1 and No. 5 respectively.
“We wrote this song about our wives, and to see it resonate with so many people is an extra special feeling for us,” Smyers said. “Having back-to-back No. 1 songs already on this album is a testament to the support from our fans and friends at country radio. With more than 150 million on-demand streams and over 1 million track equivalents sold, “Speechless” is the No. 1 song in consumption, sales and streams among this week’s Mediabase Top 50. Dan + Shay recently performed the smash single, which was one of only three titles to reach the top of Hot Country Songs this year, on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Good Morning America and the season finale of Dancing with the Stars. They will take it to NBC’s The Voice tomorrow night at 8:00pm/7:00c for a performance with Kelly Clarkson team member Chevel Shepherd. Fans can also catch Dan + Shay on the re-air of CMA Country Christmas (ABC) this Saturday, Dec. 22 at 8:00pm/7:00c.
The skyrocketing duo will close out their massive year with performances of both “Speechless” and “Tequila” on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve (ABC). “Tequila” became Dan + Shay’s first multi-week No. 1 single and is currently nominated for two GRAMMY Awards for “Best Country Duo/Group Performance” and “Best Country Song.” In addition to its GRAMMY recognition, the song garnered four combined CMA Awards nominations and two American Music Awards nods.The “massive, sweeping country-radio smash” (Rolling Stone) has earned nearly three billion audience impressions in 2018, including more than 332 million streams and 2.5 million track equivalents, and was named to “Best of…” lists from Billboard, Amazon, Apple Music, Pandora, Spotify, YouTube and more.
Dan + Shay recently took some time from their life-changing year to change lives for others. Their headlining benefit concert at Byham Theater in Pittsburgh raised more than $60,000 for the Tree of Life Synagogue. Beyond the incredible support demonstrated by a presence 1,200 strong, members of the sold-out crowd contributed several thousand dollars additional via merchandise purchases as well as their own monetary donations. 100% of proceeds were donated to re-building the synagogue, which was tragically affected by a mass shooting in October.
The duo will head overseas in the new year, spreading their music across the globe with a headlining UK tour kicking off January 17, 2019. They will follow with “Dan + Shay The Tour” – which has officially sold out all 21 of its dates, including a just-added New York show on March 7.
