Dwight Yoakam's 3 Pears Is No.1 Americana Album For Fifth Week In A Row

Dwight Yoakam’s critically acclaimed new album, 3 Pears, is the No. 1 Americana Album for an impressive fifth week in a row this week. Released September 18th on Warner Bros. Records, 3 Pears was the artists’ highest charting debut on Billboard 200 and Billboard Country Albums Chart upon release. Just returning from his Australian tour, Yoakam has toured select US cities in support of 3 Pears since this summer, with a handful of new dates scheduled through December. In addition, Yoakam was honored at this year’s 6th Annual ACM Honors with the prestigious Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award.

His 26th studio album, Yoakam’s 3 Pears, was released to rave reviews: Entertainment Weekly proclaimed, “[3 Pears] is a smashing return ...” and was heralded by The New York Times for having “hard shuffles, trebly guitars, steel-guitar solos, strong chorus hooks. It locates some measure of cool within old obsessions…but doesn’t want to be contained. The voices are loud, the guitars are louder.” The Washington Post stated “3 Pears [is Yoakam’s] strong new collection, one of his finest overall.”

Praised by Associate Press as “one of the most consistently interesting country music visionaries of his time,” Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums, has 12 gold albums and nine platinum or multi-platinum albums, including the triple platinum “This Time.” Five of his albums have topped Billboard’s Country Albums chart with another fourteen landing in the Top 10. More than 30 singles have charted, with 22 Top 20 hits, which include “Honky Tonk Man,” “Please Please Baby,” “Little Ways,” “I Sang Dixie,” “It Only Hurts When I Cry,” “Fast as You” and “Thousand Miles from Nowhere.” Yoakam has won two GRAMMY Awards and earned an impressive 21 nominations.
