Hunter Hayes Earns First No. 1 with Platinum Single "Wanted"

Atlantic recording artist and recently announced 2012 CMA New Artist of the Year nominee, Hunter Hayes is celebrating another career first this week as his current single “Wanted” races all the way to the top of the charts. The now No. 1 single is also his first to receive Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) selling over 1 million copies. “Wanted” is Hunter’s second single off his self-titled debut album, Hunter Hayes, and is also Top 20 all genres on iTunes digital charts. To date, Hunter has sold a combined total of nearly two million digital singles. His first single, “Storm Warning” is nearing Gold certification as well.

“Seriously it's hard for me to believe I'm here talking about my first number one record,” said Hunter upon hearing his single is #1 on both radio charts. “I am unbelievably grateful for the support from Country Radio, my entire team working behind the scenes and all the incredible fans, all of whom helped me pick this song for a single and supported it all the way to where it is! Thank you! Thank you SO much!”

Hunter Hayes, the multi-talented writer, musician, producer, and performer, is the only country artist to play every instrument, write/co-write every song, and co-produce his critically acclaimed self-titled debut album. As the 2012 CMA and ACM New Artist of the Year nominee, Hunter has been touring and performing live for decades. He has played to sold out venues across the US and Canada on his MOST WANTED headline tour and is currently putting the finishing touches on preparations for touring with Carrie Underwood on her “Blown Away Tour” this fall. The Louisiana native has also shared the stage with Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley, and Hank Williams, Jr. This multi-instrumentalist continues to garner praise from fans and critics alike as he made his world-premiere national television debut on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman and also performed with The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and on Good Morning America. His current hit "Wanted" also held the unprecedented #1 slot for three weeks in a row on GAC's Top 20 Countdown.
