NASHVILLE, TN – (September 16, 2011) – Multi-talented musician, writer, producer and performer Hunter Hayes joins Nashville Mayor Karl Dean at the historic Ryman Auditorium today as part of the Music Makes Us initiative to make music education in Nashville a world-class program. Hunter spoke at the press conference on his personal experience with music education and how the initiative would have benefited him when he was in school. Music Makes Us: The Nashville Music Education Project would overhaul Nashville Public School systems’ current music program with an updated contemporary curriculum.

“I consider myself to be blessed and fortunate beyond belief because I can honestly say that music has always been a part of my life,” said Hunter. “There's not a day in my memory where I haven't known the power of music. The gift of music is truly a gift in whatever way it comes, and I'm proud to say that Nashville Tennessee is taking the initiative to give that music to those who need it most, those that pave the way of the future.
