Picture this – you walk into a bar and take a look around. Everyone in the room may be there for different reasons, ranging from celebrating to wanting to forget. Warner Music Nashville rising artist Randall King arrives today with his major label debut album, Shot Glass, reminding listeners that whatever got them there, they are never drinking alone (LISTEN HERE). Produced by Bart Butler and Ryan Gore, the 11-song record, seven of which were co-written by King, provides different perspectives of a night out. In addition to the album, King has also released a music video for the title track, which Billboard described as “the project’s emotional pulse” (WATCH HERE). Directed by Sam Siske, the video provides a visual look into one of the many POVs featured on the top-shelf concept record.
King has had several reasons to celebrate all week leading up to the major label debut release, starting off with his Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday (3/15). Deemed as “one of country’s most promising modern-day traditionalists” by Country Now, King received a standing ovation from the packed crowd after his performance of “Roger, Miller Lite and Me” and “I’ll Fly Away.” The next day (3/16), he headed across the street to the famed Nashville Palace to play to an invite-only select group of industry and fans alike, playing 30 minutes of fan favorites and unreleased tunes.
One of Wide Open Country’s Most Anticipated Country Albums of 2022, King has been dropping tastes of Shot Glass since the release of the Leanna EP in 2020, named after his late sister (LISTEN HERE). Incorporating EP tracks “Hey Cowgirl” and “I’ll Fly Away,” King also provided early album POVs with “You In A Honky Tonk,” “Baby Do” and “Record High.” Rolling Stone raved about the latter, stating “King sings it with delicious gusto…demonstrating why he’s a talented newcomer to watch.”
A Pandora and Country Now 2022 Country Artists to Watch, King has accumulated 120+ million global career streams to date. Described as “one of the best live shows you’ll see” by Whiskey Riff, King is currently on a spree of tour dates with Tracy Lawrence and Clay Walker throughout March, and he will continue to headline shows as well for the remainder of the year.
