WARNER BROS. RECORDS’ COUNTRY-SOUL SINGER JAMES OTTO WILL BE GIVING THANKS IN NEW YORK CITY THIS YEAR

James Otto To Perform With Ronnie Milsap And The Roots, Thanksgiving Day On Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Nashville, TN – (November 22, 2010) – Warner Bros. Records’ country-soul singer James Otto has a lot to be thankful for this year – new album, new single climbing the country music charts and a beautiful baby girl. He will be giving thanks this year in New York City as he joins his musical hero, country music legend Ronnie Milsap, and the critically acclaimed hip-hop group The Roots for a soulful performance on NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Thanksgiving Day. This intriguing musical match-up will be performing Otto’s tune “Good Thing’s Gone Bad” which brings out the old-school R&B grit in his powerhouse voice and is from his current album, Shake What God Gave Ya, produced by Paul Worley (Big & Rich, Lady Antebellum, The Dixie Chicks). Be sure to tune in to your local NBC affiliate on Thursday November 25 at 12:35pm Eastern Time to catch this incredible performance.

Otto wrote “Good Thing’s Gone Bad” with friends Jon Nicholson, James LeBlanc and Gary Nicholson while down in Muscle Shoals, AL. Sitting in an office looking at some pictures of Otis Redding, Otto picked up a guitar to play that caught his eye and it was one Otis used to play. It struck a mood for them, and then the groove started happening. The song flowed from there.

“I always thought Ronnie Milsap would be the perfect guy to sing on this song and luckily he was into it,” Otto beams. “He came in and just sang his butt off and told musical stories all day long. It definitely was one of the greatest moments in my career, because I got to sit with one of my heroes and hear him sing one of my songs.” Otto adds, “It was a raise-the-hair-on-your-arms moment. And now, to be able to perform with him on Fallon is unbelievable! I’m incredibly thankful and humbled by this honor. This is one Thanksgiving I will never forget.”

James Otto is 100 percent country, but he’s also got a heart full of soul. And his signature soulful sound broke through with his smash hit, “Just Got Started Loving You”—which was declared the No. 1 country single of 2008 by Billboard. This track is from his album, Sunset Man, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, scored three singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and remained in the Top 5 Country Albums chart for six weeks after its release in April 2008. Last year, Otto won an ACM and CMA Award in the Song of the Year category as a co-writer for “In Color” (a track that also earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Country Song).
