Last night, Dan + Shay won their third trophy for Top Country Duo / Group at the Billboard Music Awards. They have also previously earned the honor for Top Country Song (“10,000 Hours”). BBMA winners are determined by Billboard chart performance, from album and song sales to radio airplay, streaming, touring and social engagement.
“Thank you Billboard Music Awards, this is truly an honor,” said Dan Smyers. “Thank you to our team and our road crew, our band, and the fans. We love you so much!”
Dan + Shay also performed “You,” a song from their current album Good Things. USA Today said of the performance, “The country duo known for their sweet ballads and angelic harmonizing didn’t disappoint with a gently swaying rendition of the track.” Good Things is the first country album in the streaming era to achieve RIAA Gold certification upon release and has now sold more than one million album equivalents. The album has yielded the hit singles “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber, which has been certified quadruple platinum, and Platinum certified hits “I Should Probably Go To Bed,” and “Glad You Exist.”
Dan + Shay are spending their summer writing new music and playing to sold-out stadium crowds across the country with Kenny Chesney on the “Here And Now” Tour.
In the nine years since they formed, Dan + Shay have garnered more than nine billion global career streams to date, 42 total RIAA certifications and achieved nine No. 1 singles at country radio. In addition to their BBMA Awards, the duo has earned three GRAMMY Awards, multiple CMA, ACM, and AMA Awards, plus an iHeart Titanium Award, signifying one billion audience spins for their 7x Platinum global smash “Tequila.”
