Making her debut as a Warner Music Nashville artist, singer / songwriter Jordyn Shellhart is set to release her first track “Who Are You Mad At” this Friday, January 27. The Warner Music Nashville artist, who was praised by Billboard for having a “dreamy, gauzy tone,” wrote the poignant tune alongside Marc Beeson and Allen Shamblin. It was produced by Cameron Jaymes and mixed by Dave Clauss. Shellhart will also release the accompanying music video on Friday, directed by Jory Lee Cordy. The cinematically stunning video provides a look into Shellhart’s unique artistic direction and creative style.
"Putting out music for the first time since I was a teenager feels a bit like coming home,” says Shellhart. “I’ve never stopped writing songs but sharing them is another piece of magic altogether. I'm thankful."
Pulling foundational inspiration from artists such as Emmylou Harris and Kris Kristofferson and modern sensibilities of Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves, Shellhart has country music in her blood. Born in Wyoming and ultimately ending up in Nashville at the age of 10, Shellhart was thrown into the scene with a publishing deal, record deal, Grand Ole Opry debut and on a country-wide tour all by the age of 16. In an anti-climactic, heartbreaking plot twist, she lost her voice in the midst of it all.
Through a good number of twists, turns and worldview shakeups, she found herself singing again and racking up credits as a songwriter, including Little Big Town’s Grammy-nominated “Sugar Coat” and songs recorded by Kelsea Ballerini, Cody Johnson, Don Williams and more. Now, Shellhart is ready to share her music through her own voice. “Who Are You Mad At” is just the beginning for this dreamer, with more original music set to release this year.
