Warner Music Nashville singer / songwriter Troy Cartwright is sharing exciting news today with the announcement of his upcoming live EP, Memory Machine Sessions. Along with the EP announcement, Cartwright has released the first track “Hung Up On You” (Memory Machine Sessions) (LISTEN HERE) along with an accompanying video showcasing the performance (WATCH HERE). This follows an acoustic rendition of the song, which was recorded at Red Light Studios and showcases Cartwright’s stripped-down and raw vocals (WATCH HERE).
“Hung Up On You” was the Texas native’s first release since signed with Warner Music Nashville in 2018. Co-written by Cartwright with husband/wife duo Soloman and Rebecca Lauren Olds, the David Garcia-produced track has received critical praise from Billboard, who stated: “From a plucky instrumental signature riff through its sing-along chorus, a catchy ‘déjà vu’ pre-chorus reference, some call-and-answer ‘woo hoos’ and an awesome, left-field bridge, ‘Hung Up on You’ has so many hooks that it can leave the listener hung up for hours.”
Cartwright has released five other original tracks since landing his record deal, most recently sharing the vengeful song “Hammer,” which Billboard praised as a “grinding track that will appeal to fans of Eric Church and Chris Stapleton.” His previous releases “Love Like We Used To,” “My First Beer,” “Cake For Breakfast,” and MusicRow’s Disc of the Day “Round and Round” all contribute to his 30+ million global career streams. Taste of Country applauded Cartwright’s growing collection, saying “quite a few songs from Cartwright's catalog sound like a smile.”
