Duck for cover! Warner Music Nashville’s Troy Cartwright is coming in hot with the release of his latest music video for “Cake For Breakfast” (WATCH HERE). Directed by Rachel Deeb, the fun-filled video features Cartwright and friends enjoying a night out at a diner, ultimately ending up in a massive food fight with – you guessed it – cake. Premiering on YouTube, the singer/songwriter interacted with fans via live chat in the video’s comment section upon release.
Billboard called the vibrant, up-tempo tune “an obvious earworm” with “plenty of hand-snapped rhythms, enjoyable banjo features and Cartwright’s memorable vocals.” Written by Brett Tyler, Michael Hardy and Alysa Vanderheym, the track is Cartwright’s fourth release on Warner Music Nashville. It follows “Hung Up On You,” “Love Like We Used To” and “My First Beer,” the latter of which Sounds Like Nashville praised for “pouring vivid, unforgettable memories into a groove-country standout.” Cartwright has received recognition early on in his career with Rolling Stone placing him on their “10 Country Artists You Need To Know” list, describing his sound as having “an affinity for power country, idiosyncratic Seventies singer-songwriter fare and indie rock.”
Before even securing a manger or an agent, the Texas native followed a rigorous tour schedule of 130 tour dates per year. He has since toured with artists such as Josh Abbott Band, Riley Green, Jake Owen and more, and he will join Jon Langston this Thursday for shows in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. About Troy Cartwright:
Warner Music Nashville’s Troy Cartwright is a fascinating mix. Certainly a product of Texas’ rich heritage of dive bars and honky tonks, he’s also a Berklee trained musician and a one-time youth worship leader. After releasing a handful on EPs and a critically-heralded full-length album, the Dallas native dreamed bigger dreams than what stretched on the endless Texas horizons and relocated to Music City, where his creative drive found a new gear. He signed with Warner Music Nashville in 2018 and has since released “Hung Up On You,” “Love Like We Used To,” “My First Beer” and most recently “Cake For Breakfast.”
