NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (July 16, 2018) – Illinois native and country superstar Brett Eldredge felt right at home this weekend in Chicago where more than 18,000 fans, friends and family members came out to enjoy a set that featured his many chart-toppers and a few surprises. The crowd of 18,418, a new one-day attendance record for the festival, enjoyed classic hit songs from Eldredge like “Beat Of The Music,” “Lose My Mind,” and “The Long Way,” plus “Illinois,” the title track from his second album. He also fired up the hometown crowd with rousing renditions of the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs’ theme song “Go, Cubs, Go” and “Chelsea Dagger,” the goal song for the Blackhawks.
“I played the very first Windy City Smokeout five years ago and I knew coming back for my third time would be very special,” said Eldredge. “Chicago brought an energy like nothing I’ve ever felt! That moment of looking out at the crowd and the Chicago skyline is something I’ll never forget.”
Eldredge also performed his new single “Love Someone,” which is climbing the radio airplay and sales charts now. “It’s about the simplicity of love,” he explained. “You know love is actually, when it comes down to it, a very simple thing. What are those things that you look for most in a companion? It’s someone that keeps you warm at night, that’s always there for you. Somebody that laughs at the way you dance – they think it’s funny but they love you for it. They smile when you’re holding their hand. This is one of those first-listen kind of songs that just makes you smile, makes you feel good, makes you want love if you don’t have it and makes you happy to be in love if you are.”
The singer / songwriter and entertainer will return to Chicago later this month as part of the CMA Songwriters Series, where he will headline a show at Joe’s Bar on Tuesday, July 24 at 8:00 p.m. The show features some of Eldredge’s closest friends and songwriting partners, including Ross Copperman, Tom Douglas, Heather Morgan and Jordan Reynolds.
The award-winning recording artist will continue playing shows throughout the summer before embarking on the fall leg of his wildly successful and highly acclaimed The Long Way Tour. The 14-date run will kick off September 13 in Denver and will once again feature labelmate Devin Dawson as special guest along with newcomer Abby Anderson (see below).
