As the countdown to his We All Grow Up EP continues, Warner Music Nashville riser Chase Matthew hits overdrive with “Small Town Shit,” a heavy-duty anthem out today (2/2). Listen here.
Written by Jaxson Free, Jessie Jo Dillon, Taylor Phillips, and Daniel Ross, the flexing new track – produced by Alex Maxwell and Jake Angel alongside co-producer Daniel Ross – offers an amped take on country boy pride, with Matthew’s laid-back vocal swagger leading the way. A diesel-powered jam, tough-talking lyrics, and a Hip-Hop-influenced beat combine as the Tennessee native celebrates life “in the sticks” in all its addictive glory.
Meanwhile, an adrenaline-pumping music video finds Matthew and his buddies living out the track’s rowdy buzz. Directed by James West and filmed in the midst of a Southern snowstorm in Springfield, TN, the clip is all parking lot powerslides and 4X4 fun – “Small Town Shit” even the local cops can’t resist.
Along with the previously released “We All Grow Up,” “Small Town Shit” keeps the momentum building toward the February 16 delivery of Matthew’s We All Grow Up EP. Claiming the rural lifestyle with unflinching attitude and his hard-hitting sound, the six-set features four songs co-written by him, as fans continue to discover Matthew’s country-or-nothing personality.
With over 900 MILLION global career streams – including more than 275 MILLION from his first RIAA PLATINUM-certified smash, “County Line” – the emerging talent has seen both independent streaming success and a chart-rising single at Country radio (his “Love You Again” debut is Top 30), all while tastemakers call out his next-up status.
Along with “One to Watch” attention from HITS and MusicRow’s Next Big Thing Class of 2024, Matthew was just added to Wide Open Country’s spotlight, who cited “charismatic shows and music that strikes a chord with fans” as the core of his “rapidly ascending career.”
That career will keep picking up steam as this year rolls on – especially on the road. Matthew’s headlining COME GET YOUR MEMORY EXTENDED TOUR rumbles through June, with him also supporting Jason Aldean. Check out his website for complete tour information.
