Johnson’s Hot Streak Of Sold Out Shows Continues As

“On My Way To You” Approaches Top 10 At U.S. Country Radio

CoJo Music / Warner Music Nashville recording artist Cody Johnson was welcomed with a thunderous round of applause as he stepped onto the stage to make his Ryman debut Saturday (5/4).

“Nashville. Thank you for letting me come and sing real country music in a place where all of my heroes have stood before,” Johnson shared on Instagram following his performance. “I won’t ever forget my first sold out show at @theryman, thank you #COJONATION!”

Johnson lit up the room with his explosive showmanship while performing a wide array of songs including recent cuts off his latest #1 album AIN’T NOTHIN’ TO IT and longtime fan-favorites “With You I Am“ and “Me and My Kind.” Johnson was moved by the experience, and chose to honor those who blazed the trail before him. He dedicated the second half of his set to artists who have inspired him by performing covers including Patsy Cline’s “Crazy,” Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman,” “Troubadour” by George Strait, Merle Haggard’s “Footlights,” Roger Miller’s “Husbands and Wives” and Brooks & Dunn’s “Red Dirt Road.” He closed the night with his biggest hit to date – “On My Way To You” – which is approaching Top 10 at Country radio.

A humbled Johnson also took time to pay tribute to the members of his team who work tirelessly behind-the-scenes. He gave special thanks to his parents, his wife, children, manager, producer, band, crew, record label and all of the people who have impacted his musical career. Johnson stated, “I’m not gonna stand up here and pretend that I am the only one that got me to this moment.”

Known for his dynamic and exhilarating live performances, record-breaking streaming numbers and rabid fanbase, the traditionalist has earned legions of loyal fans who consistently pack out his shows. In 2019 thus far he has sold out 18 shows and sold over 150,000 tickets. Johnson recently performed to a crowd of nearly 40,000 people at his Tortuga Music Festival debut before returning to California’s Stagecoach Festival where he “provided one of the most attended performances of the day at the Palomino tent” according to Billboard.

On August 17, Johnson will support the “King of Country” -- George Strait -- at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA alongside label-mate Blake Shelton and critical darling Caitlyn Smith.
