Dan + Shay have made GRAMMY history tonight as they clinch the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category for the third consecutive year with their global hit “10,000 Hours” (with Justin Bieber), making them the first artist to do so consecutively since the category’s inception. The duo won the category for the first time in 2019 with 6x Platinum smash “Tequila,” going on to win again in 2020 with 5x Platinum multi-format hit “Speechless.”
With more than 1.5 billion global streams, “10,000 Hours” became the biggest first-week streaming total in country music history and was the fastest country song to reach one million U.S. track equivalents in 2019, earning over four million U.S. track equivalents to date. The multi-week No.1 is the first song by a country duo or group ever to debut in the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 5 and spent 21 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs (5th longest of all time). The worldwide smash has achieved 4x Platinum certification in Canada, 3x Platinum in Australia and the U.S., Platinum in the Netherlands and Gold in four other countries. “10,000 Hours” has also been named Top Country Song at the Billboard Music Awards and Best Lyrics at the iHeart Radio Music Awards.
Ingrid Andress and Ashley McBryde were also recognized by the Recording Academy this year with a combined total of four nominations. Her third career GRAMMY nomination, McBryde received a nod in Best Country Album (Never Will), with Andress also receiving a nod in the category for Lady Like. Andress, who tied for most nominated country artist with three nominations, was the only country artist nominated in the coveted Best New Artist category, also receiving a nod for Best Country Song for “More Hearts Than Mine.”
