Tune In Tomorrow: “Speechless” on Good Morning America
It’s been a life-changing year for skyrocketing country duo Dan + Shay, and last night in Pittsburgh they set out to change lives for others. Their headlining benefit concert at Byham Theater raised more than $60,000 for the Tree of Life Synagogue. Beyond the incredible support demonstrated by a presence 1,200 strong, members of the sold-out crowd contributed several thousand dollars additional via merchandise purchases (an exclusive, event-only t-shirt designed by Dan + Shay) as well as their own monetary donations. 100% of proceeds were donated to re-building the synagogue, which was tragically affected by a mass shooting in October.
The duo heads tomorrow, December 4, to ABC’s Good Morning America for a performance of the fifth most-streamed country song of 2018 and their latest hit radio single, “Speechless.” The Gold-certified smash is currently sitting atopBillboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, making it only the third title to reach No. 1 in 2018. As their fastest growing single to date, it has already achieved 134 million on-demand streams and over one million track equivalent sales. Currently Top 5 at country radio, the romantic tune also ranks No. 1 in consumption, track sales and streams among this week’s Mediabase Top 50.
While “Speechless” is shooting up the charts, their multi-week No. 1 single “Tequila” has shown no signs of slowing down. As the most-streamed country song released in 2018, the “nostalgic ballad” (Rolling Stone) has been certified Double Platinum in the US and Canada and has sold over 2.4 million US track equivalent sales. It is currently in the Top 10 on the Hot AC chart and has earned more than 318 million total on-demand streams. The tune has also already been featured on multiple “Best of 2018 lists,” including taking the No. 1 slot on Amazon Music’s “Best Country of 2018.” Earlier this fall, the duo released a new version of the viral smash along with their cover of Lady Gaga’s “Million Reasons” in a Spotify Singles session (listen HERE). In addition, Dan + Shay have released vocal-only (listen HERE) and remixed (listen HERE) versions of the massive track. “Tequila” led the hit-making pair to four combined CMA Awards nominations and two American Music Awards nods.
With another performance on December 10 for CMA Country Christmas (ABC), Dan + Shay have rocked national television stages all year long. Highlights include Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ellen, the CMA Fest concert special, the 52nd Annual CMA Awards, the 53rd Annual ACM Awards, the 2018 CMT Music Awards and the Citi Summer Concert Series on TODAY. They are currently touring with Chris Young for his “Losing Sleep” Tour and will spread their music across the globe with a headlining UK tour kicking off January 17, 2019.
