Warner Music Nashville recording artist and Wyoming native Ian Munsick is bringing the west to the rest in his debut album Coyote Cry, out today (HERE). The singer / songwriter describes the 10-track project as a firm handshake of the cowboy and the hippy, the traditional and the contemporary… and everything in between. Born an audiophile and bred a multi-instrumentalist, Munsick co-produced each of the album’s 10 “self-penned songs that conjure equal parts epic adventure and down-to-earth wisdom” (American Songwriter).
“I made this album to rejuvenate the western spirit in today’s country music and to offer the world something different,” said Munsick. “Every song is a special piece of my journey and is different from the last. Coyote Cry is a deep dive into what makes me tick as an artist. Come run with me.”
Coyote Cry comes months fully formed and rich with identity fewer than six months after Munsick signed his first major label deal. He introduced himself as a Warner Music Nashville artist in September with “Long Haul” (listen HERE), an imagery-laden western love song that recently hit Spotify’s United States Viral Hot 50 chart. From pensively plucked guitar odes to the Earth to fiddle-spurred tributes to ranch life, the album covers his musical spectrum.
Munsick has spent the last half decade honing his craft in Nashville – and it shows. In January he was named to Spotify’s inaugural Hot Country Artists to Watch list. Rolling Stone praised his “riveting” tenor, while Sounds Like Nashville marveled his ability to “[tame] a soaring falsetto to fly higher than the mountains, and [match] pop power to anthemic tracks rooted in the rugged landscape of his home.” Blending his Rocky Mountain sound with progressive elements and new-school production, Munsick is geared up to bring western back into country.
