Warner Music Nashville singer / songwriter Troy Cartwright is offering a new take on his major-label debut single “Hung Up On You” with the Red Light Sessions (LISTEN HERE). The first installment in the series, the live, acoustic performance was recorded at Red Light Studios, showcasing Cartwright’s stripped-down and raw vocals. Check out the accompanying video HERE.
“Hung Up On You” served as Cartwright’s first release since signing with Warner Music Nashville in 2018 and is currently impacting radio. Billboard raved about the track, stating: “From a plucky instrumental signature riff through its sing-along chorus, a catchy ‘déjà vu’ pre-chorus reference, some call-and-answer ‘woo hoos’ and an awesome, left-field bridge, ‘Hung Up on You’ has so many hooks that it can leave the listener hung up for hours.” Co-written by Cartwright alongside husband/wife duo Solomon and Rebecca Lauren Olds, the track perfectly blends their writing styles creating a pop-country sound, brought to life by producer David Garcia.
Cartwright has released five other original tracks since landing his record deal, most recently sharing the vengeful song “Hammer,” which Billboard praised as a “grinding track that will appeal to fans of Eric Church and Chris Stapleton.” His previous releases “Love Like We Used To,” “My First Beer,” “Cake For Breakfast,” and MusicRow’s Disc of the Day “Round and Round” all contribute to his 27+ million global career streams.
“One of Texas’ most exciting country newcomers” (The Boot), Cartwright hit the ground running early on in his career at upwards of 130 tour dates per year, all before he had an agent or a manager. A Berklee-trained musician, he released a handful of EPs and a critically heralded full-length album before locating to Music City, where his creative drive found a new gear. Featured as one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Country Artists You Need To Know,” the Texas native is expected to release a brand new EP this spring.
