Warner Music Nashville’s Tucker Beathard is jamming out to some low blows and “Cheap Shots” in his upbeat new song, out now (LISTEN HERE). The tongue-in-cheek tune, which Beathard wrote alongside Jon Sherwood and Ryan Tyndell, tells of an ex-girlfriend who shows up at a bar to flaunt her new relationship. “Cheap Shots” follows “Who I Am With You” (LISTEN HERE), released in February.

“For me, lighthearted, up-tempo songs are the hardest to write because most of the lyric ideas I come up with and like thinking about wouldn’t fit with upbeat music,” Beathard shared. “But I love finding puns and hooking words or common phrases. ‘Cheap Shots’ was just one of those ideas I had that was simple – but worth writing – and could fit with a lighthearted, up-tempo sound.”

Beathard immediately garnered attention as “a country breakout” (Entertainment Weekly) with his Top 5 breakout anthem “Rock On.” He has toured relentlessly, including performances at major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Festival, Stagecoach and Faster Horses Festival – sometimes playing upwards of 200 shows a year. His debut record Nobody’s Everything was praised as a vulnerable collection that brings “smart pieces from a singular mind, the kind of material that comes from someone who marches to his own drum and mines that perspective for his worldview” (Billboard). He followed Nobody’s Everything with KING, intended as the second half of a 20-plus song opus and dedicated to his late brother. KING earned acclaim from critics, with American Songwriter declaring that it “catapults Beathard toward legendary status as a songwriter, as an artist and as a person that continues to evolve with every note.” Citing influences ranging from Blink 182 and Kings of Leon to Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, Beathard’s homegrown sound is turning heads.
