From harmony-drenched covers to behind-the-scenes clips to their “Human Jukebox” series, sisters Sophie and Ivy of Warner Music Nashville’s Walker County have forged new connections with fans – and fellow artists – via TikTok. After hearing just a few lines of the still-in-progress song “You and Jesus” back in March, they responded to songwriter Greylan James with their own version. The video (watch HERE) quickly racked up more than a half million views and inspired Walker County to record a full studio version of the reflective track. Their duet with James is out today (listen HERE).
“As children, I think one of the very first songs we ever learned was ‘Jesus Loves Me’ – and I think that’s probably true for a lot of people!” Sophie said. “We are so excited about this ‘You and Jesus’ because it involves two of our greatest loves: country music and Jesus. It speaks to the idea that Jesus accepts us no matter who we are or what we’ve done, and the love we receive from others is a result of his love for us. We can’t wait for y’all to hear this special duet with the incredible Greylan James!”
“You and Jesus” (Greylan James, Brad Clawson, Aaron Taitiere) is the latest release from the duo, following October’s rock-tinted waltz “Liar” (listen HERE). Also in 2021, Walker County shared “Bits & Pieces” (listen HERE) in their television debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show. They introduced themselves to fans with tracks including “Shovel” (listen HERE), “Drag It Out” (listen HERE) and “Someone’s Someone” (listen HERE), earning immediate praise. Taste of Country declared, “With a pair of enduring voices matched by their vibrant presence, Walker County glimmer within the spectrum of modern country music.”
Already seasoned road warriors, Sophie and Ivy performed last year on the CMT Next Women of Country tour and on select dates with Old Dominion. Click HERE for current tour dates and more information.
