The women of Walker County have nothing to hide on their debut EP, No Smoke and Mirrors, out now (LISTEN HERE). Ivy and Sophie Walker first signed with Warner Music Nashville as teenagers back in 2014. They have spent the better part of a decade honing their artistry, from songwriting to performing. Now they’re showing the world who they’ve become in their first official project.
“No Smoke and Mirrors is a look at every side of Walker County,” Ivy shared. “We wanted to create an EP that represented the women we’ve grown to be through our 16 years of writing and playing music. You will hear us sing about love, heartbreak, good times and personal breakthroughs. These songs have been compiled over the years of writing here in Nashville with some of the best collaborators, and now these words have finally found their day to shine. We are so excited for y’all to hear what we’ve been working toward. No Smoke and Mirrors is OUT NOW!”
The EP, produced by AJ Pruis, features four tracks co-written by Walker County and one special duet with rising artist Greylan James. Today the sisters released the ‘80s-inspired official music video for “Stoned” (WATCH HERE), directed by Grant Claire. Sophie and Ivy penned “Stoned” alongside GRAMMY-nominated singer / songwriter Ashley Monroe. MusicRow magazine, meanwhile, praised their empowering ballad “Mirror Mirror” (listen HERE), declaring it “essential listening.”
Sophie’s hard-driving rhythms on the drumkit and Ivy’s strutting, soulful vocals create a unique blend of country music that was inspired by the sounds of middle America they grew up on. Their blood-thick harmonies and inimitable verve continue to shine underneath maturing lyricism. The CMT Listen Up and Next Women of Country artists are practiced road warriors, opening for the likes of Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam, Martina McBride, Old Dominion and more. They’ve already earned millions of streams with fan-favorite tracks such as “Bits & Pieces” and “Drag It Out.”
